How does the Shield power work?
Shield is a defensive Power Play power that helps protect your team from incoming Attack powers. Instead of adding points directly, it reduces the damage your team takes when someone tries to attack you.

How Shield works
When Shield is active on your team:
- incoming attacks can have part of their point loss blocked
- the percentage blocked depends on the Shield’s rarity and event settings
- multiple Shields can stack to block more of an attack, but each one has a chance to break after every attack
- after blocking an attack, the Shield has a chance to break
If the Shield breaks, it won’t protect your team from future attacks unless another Shield is activated later.
Blocked points vs. break chance
Shield has two main attributes:
- Percent Blocked: how much of an incoming attack is prevented
- Break Chance: the chance the Shield stops existing after it blocks an attack
That means a Shield can behave differently from event to event. In some events it may block a modest amount but last longer. In others it may block a lot, but risk breaking quickly.
What Shield does not do
Shield does not usually guarantee full protection. If the event organizer has configured it to block only part of an attack, your team may still lose some points.
Shield also matters only when another team uses an Attack power against you. If nobody attacks your team, Shield won’t have an effect.
Why players choose Shield
Shield is a great choice when:
- the event includes offensive powers like Attack
- your team is leading and may become a target, especially of multiple teams
- you want protection instead of immediate points
- your team expects a competitive finish
Strategy tips
- Shield is strongest in events where players are actively using Attack.
- If your team has built a lead, Shield can help preserve it.
- Defensive powers are often most valuable before a final leaderboard push.
- Consider stacking multiple Shields for stronger protection if your team is being targeted.
