How do I trial or test my Event?
Before opening your event to all players, it’s a good idea to run a quick trial or test version. This allows you to see exactly how the challenges, schedules, and point system will play out — and gives you the chance to make adjustments ahead of time.
1. Duplicate Your Event
To create a safe testing copy, you’ll first need to duplicate your event.
Follow the steps here: How do I duplicate or reuse an event?
2. Adjust the Trial Version
The duplicated event will include the same challenges and schedule as the original.
For testing, you may want to:
- Rename the event to something like “Trial Run – Dragon Con Hunt”
- Shorten or simplify the schedule so you can see timed challenges activate quickly
- Invite only yourself or a few trusted testers
3. Start the Event Early
Once your trial version is ready, go ahead and start the event.
This will let you experience it exactly as players will — completing challenges, earning points, and viewing leaderboards.
You can then gather feedback from your testers (or from your own experience) and make updates to the main event.
TIP
If you have an active Business Subscription you can run as many simultaneous Events as you need. If you’ve upgraded an Event using a one-time Event Pass, it will not count against your active Event limit.
Notes
- Trials don’t affect your original event. Any changes you make to the trial version won’t impact the original event setup.
- Remember that challenges are shared across your organization’s library. Editing a challenge in the trial will also update it in the original event. If you want different content, create a new challenge instead.
- Running a small trial is highly recommended for large events or those with complex schedules, to ensure everything flows smoothly before launch.
