Creating a survey challenge

Survey challenges are a simple way to collect feedback, opinions, or preferences from your players during an event. You can use them to get quick insights like meal choices, session ratings, or favorite moments, or to gather more thoughtful written responses for wrap-ups or planning future events. Players still earn points for participating, and their answers are stored just like other challenge submissions.

While Thrillify doesn’t have a separate “survey” challenge type, you can easily create one using either a trivia challenge or a text challenge, depending on how you want players to respond.

Both options allow players to answer the prompt and earn points, and their responses will appear in your event data for reporting.

Option 1: Use a trivia challenge (multiple-choice style)

This is best when you want players to choose from a set list of options, for example:

  • “Which session was your favorite?”
  • “How did you hear about this event?”
  • “Pick your lunch preference”

To set this up:

  1. Create a Trivia Multiple Choice Challenge.
  2. Add the response options you want players to choose from.
  3. Mark all options as correct so everyone gets points, no matter what they pick.

Players will select one option, submit it, and their answer will be included in your survey results.

Option 2: Use a text challenge (open-ended responses)

Choose this approach when you want players to type in their own answer, like:

  • “What’s one thing you’d improve next time?”
  • “What was the highlight of your day?”
  • “Any suggestions for future events?”

To set this up:

  1. Create a Text Challenge.
  2. Check Any Answer is Correct so every response earns points.
  3. Players type in their answer and submit it.

If you’d rather limit responses to specific wording, you can also list acceptable answers—but for surveys, “Any Answer is Correct” is usually the better choice.

Viewing survey results

All player responses, whether from trivia or text, are saved automatically.

Event admins can download the full results from the Backstage web portal, just like any other challenge submissions. This makes it easy to review feedback, tally preferences, or collect insights from your participants.
