How do GPS Location check-in challenges work?
GPS Location challenges ask you to physically visit a specific spot in the real world and check in from within the app.
You’ll need to be close enough to the target location for the app to confirm your check-in. The app won’t tell you the exact location, the only thing you know is the name and description provided by the event organizer. You’ll be able to try checking in as many times as you want until you succeed or the event ends.
Playing a GPS Location challenge
- Open the challenge in the app.
- Read the description — it may give you a hint about where to go.
- Travel to the location. You’ll need to be within the organizer’s set radius to succeed.
- Once you’re there, tap Check In.
If you’re close enough, the challenge will complete and you’ll earn points for your team.
If you’re outside the radius, you’ll see a message telling you to try again.
Things to Know
- Accuracy: GPS can vary depending on your device, surroundings, and signal strength. Outdoors in open areas usually works best.
- Radius: Each challenge has its own radius set by the event organizer. Some may be very tight (like a specific statue), while others are larger (like a park or building).
Tips for Success
- Move around if your phone’s GPS seems off — sometimes walking a few steps helps it lock on.
- Make sure location services are enabled for the Thrillify app on your device.
- Check the challenge description carefully; it may include clues to help you find the exact spot.
- If you’re in a dense area with tall buildings, try standing in a more open spot for better accuracy.
