Do I need to be connected to the internet to participate with the App?
Thrillify is built with offline-first functionality in mind. While you’ll need to be online at certain points, most of the experience is designed to keep working even when you’re disconnected.
Here’s what you can expect:
When you do need to be online
To join an event
You must be connected to the internet the first time you join an event. This is when the app downloads the event’s data and challenges to your device. To change teams If the event organizer has enabled teams, you’ll need an internet connection to switch teams.
To sync new updates
If the event organizer adds new challenges or changes the schedule after you’ve joined, you’ll need an internet connection to receive those updates. To view other players’ activity
The live challenge feed (which shows submissions from other players) requires internet access. Without it, you’ll still see your own submissions but not others. To log in again if you’re logged out
If you haven’t connected in a while and your session expires, you’ll need to be online to log in again. To make sure your challenge submissions count
If you complete challenges offline, they’ll be stored locally on your device. However, you must reconnect and sync your submissions before the event ends in order for them to be counted. If the event ends before you sync, your offline submissions may not be accepted.
What works offline
Once you’ve joined an event and synced the initial data, the following will continue to work without an internet connection:
Browsing your event and challenges
All challenges and schedule data that were previously synced are available offline.Completing challenges
You can complete and submit challenges (including photo, video, GPS location, text and trivia) while offline. These will be stored on your device and synced automatically when you’re back online.Timed challenges
As long as the timed challenge data was synced before you went offline, you can still participate. Challenges will unlock and behave as expected, and timers will continue to work.Reminders for scheduled items
Local notifications for time blocks, scheduled challenges, and other event items will still trigger, even without a connection.
What about spotty connections?
If you’re in an area with intermittent or unreliable service, Thrillify will keep working smoothly in the background. Your progress is saved locally, and any missed syncs will automatically retry when you’re back online.
Summary
You don’t need a constant internet connection to enjoy Thrillify. As long as you’ve joined the event and synced your data, most features will continue to work offline. Just be sure to reconnect before the event ends so your challenge submissions are properly counted.
