Creating a photo challenge

Photo challenges are a fun and creative way to get players interacting with their environment. You can prompt players to take themed photos, complete specific visual tasks, or mimic something funny or iconic.

Follow these steps to create a photo challenge in Thrillify:

1. Add a new challenge

In the Thrillify Backstage web portal, go to Challenges tab while editing your Event. Click Add -> New.

You’ll see a form like this:

2. Fill in the challenge details

• Name: Give your challenge a short, descriptive title. This will appear in the challenges list.
• Description: Explain what players need to do. This will appear in the app when players view the challenge.
• Challenge Type: Select Photo Challenge from the dropdown.
• Points: Set the number of points the challenge is worth.
• External ID (optional): Use this field if you’re integrating with external tools or spreadsheets. This field will be automatically filled in when importing challenges or copying an Event template.
• Labels: Add relevant tags (like “Creative” or “Meme”) to help categorize and find challenges later.

Click Save when you’re done.

What do photo challenges look like in the app?

Once saved and included in your event, players will see the photo challenge in the Thrillify app. Here’s what it looks like to them:

Players can tap the camera area to upload or take a photo that meets the challenge requirements, then submit it to earn points.
